Job Title: Enterprise Systems Administrator
Job Location: Tallahassee, FL (On-Site)
Job Type: Contract (Thru 6/30/27)
Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Enterprise Systems Administrator to serve as a subject matter expert supporting a large, enterprise IT environment. In this role, you’ll help administer and optimize cloud and on-prem infrastructure with an emphasis on Microsoft Azure (Entra ID/Azure AD), Active Directory, Windows Server, and cloud security across Azure and AWS.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Azure Entra ID (Azure AD) and Active Directory administration and lifecycle management
- Develop and maintain processes to optimize Azure resources (performance, utilization, cost-aware best practices)
- Monitor and analyze Azure resource performance, identify contention, and recommend upgrades/changes
- Create and maintain technical standards, procedures, specifications, and documentation
- Coordinate with data center teams and IT stakeholders to execute deployments, upgrades, and configuration changes
- Administer and configure cloud infrastructure security in Azure and AWS
- Support application owners/admins/users with appropriate access controls and identity/infrastructure permissions
- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows Server issues with minimal end-user impact
- Develop PowerShell scripts for monitoring, automation, and identity/platform administration tasks
- Research and recommend technical solutions to meet business and operational requirements
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the infrastructure team
- Perform additional systems administration tasks as assigned
Essential Staff Requirement
This position is considered essential and may require reporting for duty during emergencies or potential emergencies when directed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field OR 4+ years of equivalent experience (education/experience substitution allowed year-for-year where applicable)
- 5+ years of Windows Server administration, including 3+ years with Windows Server 2016 or newer
- 3+ years of Microsoft Azure / cloud experience
- 1+ year of AWS experience
- 5+ years administering Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy in environments of 1,000+ users
- Hands-on experience writing/testing/executing PowerShell scripts
- Experience in virtual server and cloud environments
- Experience installing, maintaining, and supporting third-party applications
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting projects with a large, distributed user base
- Experience developing and managing multi-project schedules
- Additional depth in AWS cloud administration
- Experience on state government or similarly regulated projects
- Experience tracking/reporting project metrics in strict compliance environments
- Experience partnering with technical development/programming teams
- Knowledge of CJIS and HIPAA security standards (or similar compliance frameworks)
- Exposure to IT disciplines beyond infrastructure (e.g., programming, data analytics)
- Demonstrated initiative, strong ownership mindset, and a “can-do” approach to complex problems
- Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
