What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a Senior GCP Platform Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise-scale cloud services and integration capabilities that power the Unified Digital Platform (UDP). This role builds reusable enterprise services, APIs, event-driven integrations, and cloud-native platform capabilities on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

The ideal candidate is an experienced cloud/platform engineer with strong expertise in GCP services, distributed systems, API development, event-driven architectures, and modern software engineering practices. You will work closely with architects, product teams, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and highly available platform services.

Responsibilities
Cloud Platform Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise platform services on Google Cloud Platform
• Build cloud-native solutions using Google Cloud Functions and other managed GCP services
• Design scalable, secure, and resilient architectures that support enterprise growth and modernization initiatives
• Implement infrastructure and deployment automation following cloud engineering best practices

Enterprise Services and API Development

• Design, develop, and support RESTful APIs and backend services
• Build reusable enterprise services leveraged across multiple applications and business domains
• Define API contracts, standards, versioning strategies, and integration patterns
• Collaborate with architects and development teams to ensure consistent service design

Event-Driven Architecture and Integrations

• Design and implement event-driven solutions using Google Pub/Sub
• Develop integration services connecting enterprise platforms, applications, and data domains
• Support asynchronous messaging, workflow orchestration, and real-time event processing
• Help establish enterprise integration patterns and standards

Data and Persistence Layer

• Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases and SQL queries
• Develop scalable solutions utilizing Firestore and Cloud Datastore
• Implement caching and performance optimization strategies using Redis
• Support data transformation and processing workflows where required

Platform Reliability and Operations

• Monitor application and platform performance
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement preventative improvements
• Participate in production support and incident resolution activities
• Improve observability through logging, monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling

Engineering Excellence

• Follow secure coding and cloud security best practices
• Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and DevOps practices
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across teams

Qualifications
Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of software engineering, cloud engineering, or platform engineering experience
• 3+ years developing solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Strong hands-on experience with: GCP, Google Cloud Functions, Python, REST API development, Google Pub/Sub, PostgreSQL, advanced SQL, Firestore and/or Cloud Datastore, Redis, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience building distributed and event-driven systems
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred

• Experience designing enterprise integration platforms
• Knowledge of API management platforms (Apigee preferred)
• Experience with event-driven architecture patterns
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Exposure to container technologies and Kubernetes
• Experience with cloud monitoring and observability platforms
• Experience working in Agile software delivery environments
• Google Cloud Professional certification(s)

Core Technical Skills

• Cloud & Platform: Google Cloud Platform, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Firestore, Cloud Datastore
• Development: Python, REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, Git
• Data: PostgreSQL, advanced SQL, data modeling, data processing pipelines
• Integration: Event-driven architecture, Pub/Sub messaging, enterprise integrations, API design & development
• DevOps/Operations: CI/CD, Terraform (preferred), monitoring/logging, cloud operations
