Job Title: SAP Scrum Master
Job Type: Contract (12+ months)
Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid, 3 Days/Week Onsite)

We’re partnering with an established enterprise client to hire an experienced Scrum Master to support agile delivery of SAP S/4HANA within a multi-year digital transformation program. This is a high-impact role modernizing core ERP systems across Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Enterprise Health and Safety, operating in a hybrid scaled-Agile environment with a conservative PMO.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a servant leader and Scrum Master for two cross-functional SAP-focused Agile teams within a larger Supply Chain workstream, facilitating all standard ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives) for teams of roughly 15–20 participants across two-week sprints.
  • Navigate the tension between Agile team delivery and a traditional PMO structure (stage gates, deliverables, RAID logs), supporting integration with waterfall-driven workstreams such as data migration, testing, and cutover.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, System Integrator partners, and SAP consultants to maintain a clear, prioritized backlog, and facilitate story refinement and sizing sessions for user stories, technical tasks, and SAP-specific enhancements.
  • Serve as a “testing champion,” coordinating testing activities in ALM alongside Jira-based sprint work, and manage dependencies, blockers, and risks across other SAP streams and legacy systems.
  • Participate in scaled Agile ceremonies including quarterly Program Increment (PI) Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and System Demos, interfacing with Release Train Engineers, Solution Architects, and other Scrum Masters to synchronize deliveries.
  • Contribute to Agile metrics and reporting dashboards (velocity, burndown, team health) and use Jira to manage team backlogs and progress.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand timing and dependencies across workstreams, advocate for the client’s interests, raise issues and concerns proactively, and manage stakeholder dynamics with the program’s system integrator partner.

Required Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a Scrum Master in enterprise-scale Agile delivery.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementation or another major ERP platform (SAP ECC, Oracle, Workday, or similar); SAP functional-team support experience is preferred over purely technical/infrastructure SAP team support.
  • Strong understanding of Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and hybrid delivery models operating within a structured, conservative PMO environment.
  • Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and traditional SAP project phases.
  • Experience in scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe), including quarterly PI Planning, and managing cross-team dependencies.
  • Proficiency with Jira for sprint, iteration, and backlog management, plus familiarity with tools such as Confluence, MS Project, or equivalents.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, conflict-resolution, and stakeholder-management skills, including experience working with system integrator partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience supporting a Finance or Supply Chain-focused SAP team.
  • Experience coordinating testing efforts within ALM.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a dependable, collaborative Scrum Master/Project Lead who thrives in a hybrid Agile-and-PMO environment and can manage two Scrum teams while coordinating testing, dependencies, and stakeholder relationships across a large-scale SAP transformation. Strong communication and the ability to influence across workstreams without direct authority are essential. This is a long-term program opportunity: candidates should be able to commit to the full engagement and are encouraged to apply if they’re seeking sustained, multi-year work on a major ERP transformation.
